If you do poo, how often do you poo? I poo once a month, sometimes even less than that. I don't like to poo that much, it's not good for you.
No I'm not talking about doing "number 2," I am talking about shampooing your hair, or more commonly called on hair boards, "poo." I was a no-pooer for a while because I didn't really use products that caused build up on my hair, and therefore, it was not necessary to poo that often. To be honest, I think the only reason I do it now is because it is a habit. I don't use mineral oil, oils or anything like that, so I am really just doing it to just do it.
Are you like that? Do you have some habits left over from your relaxed hair days that still carry over now as a natural?
When I do wash my hair, I cowash. If you don't know, cowashing is when you just use conditioner to wash your hair. All of the ingredients I use are water soluble, so I do not need a harsh surfactant to remove any product from my hair. The conditioner and water is enough to remove all of the product from my hair. Plus, poo is very damaging to your hair. It removes the very important sebrum from our scalp and hair strands and can leave them feeling brittle and hard. Have you ever noticed that squeaky clean feeling after you shampooed? That is because the shampoo has stripped your hair of every bit of moisture that it once had! Then you need to do deep conditioning to restore that lost moisture.
I use 10 drops of Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap in half a cup of water when I do poo
Honestly, unless you are using really heavy products, or are like me and just do it to be doing it, you probably could get away with only using shampoo about once a month. And never go for that squeaky clean feeling! All you need to do is lather up your hair one time and that will suffice.
Until next time
